What kind of disaster would hit the midwest, and what kind of disaster hits the entire midwest? What could possibly stretch from Illinois to Idaho? Are you talking about winter? Ya, lots of homeless people die from the cold in winter, but that's only about a few thousand each year in the US. Has some major city been completely out of power or something?
