I've had one that overheated and caused the batteries inside to leak battery acid. I live in Mobile, Alabama and when we know a hurricane is coming, we charge up the phones and pray. If you have a generator then you can plug it up but 90% of the time, your cell phone won't work anyway because of all the disturbance and the fact that trees and towers are down. But a good idea I found was that I bought another battery for my cell phone, so when the first one dies and I don't have a power source I have the other ready to go.
