Would you stay for a category 5 hurricane?
Standing outside his restaurant in the city’s Faubourg Marigny district, Dale DeBruyne prepared for Gustav the way he did for Katrina — stubbornly.
"I’m not leaving," he said.
DeBruyne, 52, said his house was stocked with storm supplies, including generators.
"I stayed for Katrina," he said, "and I’ll stay again."
"This is the real deal, not a test," Nagin said as he issued the order, warning residents that staying would be "one of the biggest mistakes of your life." He emphasized that the city will not offer emergency services to anyone who chooses to stay behind.
Predictions are for a cat 5 hurricane. Cat 4 or 5. Doesn’t matter. Katrina should have been a wake up call for anybody living in the NO area. If people decide to stay, they’re gambling with their lives.
While stationed on the Island of Guam I had no other choice but to stay on island through the typhoons that struck. I remember Super Typhoon Paka very well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Paka
I guess he’s gotta do what he’s gotta do. He’s obviously a gambling man because he loves playing Russian Roulette.

Oh no. It is time to get the hell out of there. Thanks for prayers for my friends, they are fine. In Brooklyn now. They made their peace and are going to focus on moving on if need arises. I hope everyone realizes that posessions although we tend to hang on to them dearly can always be replaced. Not immediately or whatever but you can always get a couch. A life however, once gone will never be again. So I just say weigh them pros and cons.
It should be easy
prayers may it pass by or away but nor in.
I am not good at prayers,
good night.
hell no!!!!!!!!!!
Yikes, I know I wouldn’t.
That guy is just a little too confident.
Best of luck to him!
heck no!
well i know that i have to stay
What a fool
DON"T STAY!!!! PLEASE!!!
No, I would not! No material things are worth risking Human Life. xox
Ya this guy is an idiot. Hope he does not die because of it.
NO
i was in camille and it was 5 hurricane and i stayed never again would i stay regardless. the national guard would take care of the mess but lives can’t be taken care of
i would not stay around ..in trying to get my sister in law to come up where in at in san antonio she live on the texas coats RIGHT on the water ..and she wont .. and its going to hit her ..shes putting her self a rick with a 3 yr old little girl when living in a mobile home
As long as you are by yourself and don’t call for ANYONE’s help EVER then yeah rock it. It would be pretty cool to stay and say you lived through it. I would worry more about getting shelter though….not much need for a generator if you’re buried under a building or flooded out.
Probably not.
I live sw of mobile about 15 miles and about 6 miles from the water. But, I’m on high ground, and live in a new brick home built to hurricane specs.
As of right now- I’m staying.
We will look at it in the a.m.
No that guy is probably making the most stupidest decision ever. But if someone is risking his life like that and is ok with it then i would let him.
But best of luck to tht crazy guy!
Just like Harry Truman on Mt St Helens (he died when the volcano exploded)
the word of the day kids is "Ignorant"
No way! The majority of people who are killed by hurricanes die because they did not evacuate when they were told to.
